| Welcome to www.cairnterriers.net. The cairn terriers history can be traced back 500 years to the Isle of Skye, Scotland. The Cairn terrier is a rugged working terrier. It is used to root vermin such as rodents, rabbits, foxes, weasels, out of rocky terrain. When not in rock piles, the cairn digs up moles and gets after otters in the water. The outer coat is harsh, while the undercoat is soft and furry. The colors are: wheaten, tan, grizzle and any color other than white. Dark ears, muzzle, and tail tip are desirable. "Toto", the little dog in "The Wizard of Oz" was a Cairn terrier. Other breeds of dogs may also be found on this website. Scroll down to view.
